The next step is to attach the guide to the blank - I like to use surgical tubing or masking tape from which most of the adhesive has been removed (as in the photo, above). This does not mar the finish of the blank and does not transfer stick glue from the masking tape to either the blank or the guide foot. Start the wrap with very long winds. It does not matter that the first overwrap of the actual guide wrap will start past the long looping thread. Pulling on the "tag end" of the thread will pull the thread back under the overwrap and produce a smooth edged finish while keeping the band of thread compact. |
