The
first step is to measure the outside diameter of the blank.
This can be
done with a tape measure or a rather inexpensive micrometer. I prefer
the micrometer, as it is easier to use and calibrate to the preferred
inside diameter of the grip-to-be. It is important to remember that
for all foam material, the inside diameter will expand by up to
one third. The objective therefore is to make the inside diameter
of the grip slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the rod
blank. This is where the micrometer makes life easier, since they
all have inside and outside measurement capability and the ouside
diameter of the blank can be instantly compared to the inside diameter
of the grip.
