The next step is to very lightly abrade the rod blank. This is necessary to provide a good adhesive surface for the new finish. A good 600 (or finer) grit emory cloth works well. Remember: the objective is NOT to remove the entire finish down to the matting. Although this can produce an interesting "cross hatch" pattern in a transparent finish, I recommend that you start with something simpler. |
