Ken, I
just wanted you to know that the matched set of trolling rods
you built for me has been terrific, and they have been used
for pulling double tandem rigs as well as umbrella rigs here
on the Chesapeake Bay south of Solomons. The new rods offer
great flexibility and the customers are impressed in the way
they handle large fish. Thanks again for your professional
advice and help in designing these rods.

Ken:
I used that 2 piece rod this weekend on a special Combo Sea
Bass and Fluke trip in Montauk Point this weekend. I had to
give a few of those flukes to some the passengers on board
who weren't lucky enough to have a Ken Preston 2 Piece Custom
Rod! I went over my fluke limit by 5 fish so I had to share
my catch with some of the customers who weren't as fortunate
as me. I easily got my sea bass limit as well! I just told
everyone you need a Ken Preston 2 piece rod to get "2
Limits"...
|
...and
another note:
Hi
Ken! We got blown out of our weakfish tournament but we
went striper fishing. Our group got their limit in 1 hour,
then we went sea bass fishing the remainder of the day.
I got a 40" striper, and a 28" one, as well. The Calstar
rod handled the 40" flawlessly really muscled the
fish with it. I don't know how much that 40" weighed, but
it was at least 20 pounds!

"Ken,
the rod is absolutely beautiful. You did an exemplary job.
It is rare to experience such dedication to your trade but
even more rare that the product of your work mirrors the great
tradition of bamboo fly rod fishing. You are truly an ambassador
to our timeless sport. Thank you again!"

...and
a later note:
"I
took the new rod out this weekend and used it on Yellow Breeches,
Falling Spring and the Latort Spring Run and let me tell you.
What is really unique to this rod is the 2/2 configuration
with the seperate 2 wt. and 4 wt. tips. The 2 wt. was wonderful
but the 4 wt. was out of this world. They both cast their
line weight perfectly even with a 9 foot leader and 2 feet
of tippet. I could approach tight conditions with no problem
at all. I was making casts down stream of 50 feet. One other
thing I really like is the stripping eye offset the 60 degrees
the way you installed it. I took it to the Trout Unlimited
Board meeting last week and everyone was in awe. The President
said he sure wished he could cast it. They liked the offset
stripping eye as well and noted that Lefty Kreh uses that.
Thank you again!"

"Thanks
much for the repairs you did to my boat rods. They look
better now then they did when they were new and that was at
least 10 years ago. Also, the reinforcement you did
on the tip rollers looks like it should at least double the
life of the rods. Thanks again!"

"Ken,
it looks great!!! I don't think I'll ever want a rod
without the wood seat and the silver mechanicals. There are
three guys in my office drooling. I just picked up a new reel
that is a faded gunmetal, and it's sitting here teasing me
right now. I leave Thursday night for my most anticapated
trip: the Brule River in northern Wisconsin, a slice of heaven
for those lucky enough to find it. My only problem will be
restraint to order more rods! Thanks again."

"Thanks
again for restoring my antique rods. You can't imagine the
pleasure I got seeing the favorite rod of my youth brought
back to life. Now it's time to go out and relive the memories."

"I
am very pleased with the work that Ken has done for me on
my rods. My rods look like new when I get them back,
and they're done in a short amount of time. Ken is very
reasonable in his pricing."

"I've
fished with a St. Croix 6-weight for the last couple of years,
and before that with a Fenwick, but this rod is better by
a whole galaxy. I've got to compliment you on a great product.
It really is a great rod. It will add a new dimension to my
fly fishing."

"Ken
has been professionally repairing and refurbishing rods subjected
to daily charter use for two seasons. The quality of the work
is impeccable, the prices very affordable, and the rods are
returned in minimal time. Repairs have included changing a
rod blank color, replacement of missing guides and worn out
grips, rewrapping frayed, damaged threads and returning 'frozen'
roller guides to full functionality."

"Ken
Thanks so much for fixing my old surf rods. Those
two rods were more than 20 years old and ready for retirement.
After you refurbished them they should be ready for
another 20 years. They look great and the work was done
promptly and to my liking. I will certainly contact
you whenever I need any more rod work and I will recommend
you to all my fishing buddies."

"Ken
repaired a surf rod for me that belonged to my Grandfather.
It meant a lot to me and to be honest I was a little nervous
about how it would turn out. He did a fantastic job with it.
He put new wrap on it, re-finished it, and put new line guides
on it. It turned out great. My Grandfather would be proud.
Thanks again!"

"I
wanted to thank you for the quick, excellent and professional
job you did in repairing my rod. Many times aboard a charter
boat we have accidents and equipment gets damaged. Having
you available to do repairs or replacements for me saves me
money and time. Custom-made equipment is wonderful unless
it is not working or unavailable to my customers. Keeping
it at the ready is your job. My knowing that you can duplicate
custom rods for replacement or as added equipment is great.
Any angler who has a favorite rod can have "another just
like it" from you for years of fishing use.
"Ken
thanks again for your support and friendship, may you enjoy
many days on the Bay."
